Character Design

This is not going to be a long post, I’m trying to design a character a day, so the less time I spend writing this post the more time I can spend designing someone else.  Now it's not finshed, I still need to figure out the colour of what he's wearing and other minor details like that but I'll come back when I've finshed the brunt of the design for everyone else. So here is my first character, The Messenger. Scruffy, sorry little fellow.

  2. So you've decided on the time period? For costumes and things, it may pay to check out the TV show, 'Horrible Histories' for a sense of "exaggerated realism".

    1. I have over 20 horrible histories books, lol, there really good and quite funny, it was actually a small peice of a horrible histories book that gave me the seed for this story idea. Yeah, I've done a bit of research and I've decided on 12th century Britian, it's my favourite period because its that kind of half way point between barbian and sophisticated society. I'd like to put somesort of coat of arms on the front of his surcoat, might be fun to design one. I think i'll discuss my chocie of period in more detail on a later post.

    2. I haven't read any horrible histories books but I did read a great millinery book in the State Library, that covered hat styles through a large time period. There could be some other good books, but I don't know. Could be worth a look, but it sounds like you're already on your way.

  3. I've been wanting to take a look at one of those books for a while now. Thanks for giving me that opportunity today.

I'm not sure if you're still looking for sub-aqueous inspiration. You had shown some concept ideas in your last post. If you are, here's something done in 3D, with a bit of "mood" lighting both over and under water. (Check out the credits at the end...not a solo effort):
